Pump House Gallery, London

In 2006, always remaining close to the core of the creative process, Outset facilitated an artist residency programme at Pump House Gallery.

The unique public arts venue, set within the surrounds of Battersea Park, provided the backdrop for the Take Over project in early 2007. Five UK-based artists were selected from one hundred applicants by acclaimed painter Nigel Cooke and curator David Thorpe, and were invited to use the gallery as a studio or working base, with the aim of providing a stimulating environment that fosters a creative exchange of ideas.

The selected participants included such diverse artists as Jon Ford, Fiona Jardine, David Kefford, Pil and Galia Collective, and Robert Stone. Their final work was exhibited at Pump House for a fortnight after the project.

Pil and Galia’s acclaimed Asparagus Ballet was designed and choreographed during this residency, and went on to be performed at the Conway Hall, with an accompanying exhibition at The Showroom Gallery.
