2007 marked the launch of the Outset Production Fund, enabled by a group of Outset supporters seeking deeper engagement with the process of production and institutional collecting. The initiative was established with initial funding of Ł500,000 to facilitate the creation of artists’ works, with a view to institutional donation in the UK and abroad. Fourteen projects to date have extended Outset reach to Denmark, Germany, Israel, Russia and Sweden.
Outset donates challenging contemporary art to public institutions across Britain and abroad, meeting the need to acquire early-stage work in an environment where market-pricing is often out of museum reach.
To date, with the help of international curators and independent curators, Outset has sponsored the acquisition of nearly one hundred works. Aiming to commit at critical stages in emerging and established artists' careers, Outset ensures that this funding achieves optimal impact.
The creation of the Outset Production Fund has deepened the commitment of a group of the foundation's supporters, who enable artists to create new works with a view to eventual placement in leading institutions.
